Fun sports in winter

The winter landscape also has something to offer those looking for that little bit different. In Jausern, (just outside Saalbach), there is the possibility to drive a snowmobile on a specially designed course. You can also rent ice carts for pure action on a course made of ice, measuring 3,500 m².

Code of Conduct for tobogganing

Tobogganing is also a sport that needs to be learnt.

Even if tobogganing is great fun for the whole family, the sport entails some risks and dangers, due to many people tobogganing on the same narrow track. Please note the following are recommendations (especially if tobogganing with children):

  • Be considerate of others tobogganing. Behave in such a way that no other person is in danger or can be injured.
  • Pay attention to all barricades and warning notices. Make sure that the run is open for tobogganing. Inform yourself about the course and conditions.
  • Make sure you have good equipment: High quality toboggan (with braking device), helmet, sturdy footwear. On the grounds of safety, no plastic bobs or bum-boards.
  • Stay to the right and behind each other. Cross the toboggan run only in clearly visible places.
  • Control your speed and be sure to leave enough distance between tobogganers. Adjust your speed to weather conditions, snow and ice as well as how busy the run is.
  • Take care of yourself. Warn others by shouting. If dark: wear headlamps and reflective clothing.
  • If waiting for companions, stay to the side. Make sure the group is complete. Do not stop on blind corners or where the track is especially narrow.
  • Tobogganing on the ski piste is dangerous and forbidden. The chance to collide with a skier is high. During the night, frozen toboggan tracks affect the piste quality.
  • No dogs: Dogs are difficult to control on both the ascent and descent. There is also a considerable risk of collision.
  • Do no toboggan under the influence of alcohol or medication, as this can impair your judgement and reaction and you can be a danger to others.
