If the weather gods ever happen not to be kind to us, that's only because our indoor sights and attractions  are also anxious to have a few visitors of their own!

Krimml Waterfalls

Spectacular views of Krimml Waterfalls - Europe's biggest - await you along the 4 km-long, well-maintained footpath.  Your proximity to the waterfalls has positive effects on your health and overall sense of wellbeing.
And directly next to the waterfalls, you will discover the gateway to Krimml's WasserWunderWelt theme park. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of water!

Grossglockner High-Alpine Road

The most famous alpine road of them all leads you towards Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner (elev. 3,798 m) and its glacier, the Pasterze. 48 km in length with 36 hairpin bends. Numerous information points and hiking paths are located next to the road.
Ferleiten Wildlife Park is located just before the toll gate for the Grossglockner High-Alpine Road.  As you stroll along their enjoyable hiking paths, you will be able to observe numerous native animal species.

 

Gerlos Alpine Road

The beautifully constructed Gerlos Alpine Road has a maximum grade of just nine percent, winding its way up through eight switchbacks to the top of the mountain.
At a maximum altitude of 1,630 meters and a length of 12 km, Gerlos Alpine Road presents drivers with an array of scenic views, ranging from the Salzach Valley to the Zillertal Alps.

Kitzsteinhorn Glacier Ski Area

The glacier on the "Kitzsteinhorn" in Kaprun is always worth a visit, and not just in winter!
Up on the glacier, the snow defies even those mid-summer temperatures you encounter down in the valley.  Massive rock formations alternate with verdant hillsides covered in flowers.  Crystal-clear mountain streams provide the refreshment you crave.

High-Mountain Reservoirs in Kaprun

The Kaprun reservoirs lie in the midst of the fascinating alpine world of the Hohe Tauern range.  The ride up to the reservoirs is a memorable experience in its own right.  Modern buses carry you to Europe's biggest open funicular. The journey then continues by bus to the Mooserboden reservoir. The "Power & Ice" interactive exhibition and a guided tour of the dam wall itself are both not to be missed!

 

Hallein Salt Mine

Inside the world's oldest publicly accessible mine , you will set out to explore the over 2500-year-old history of salt, that "White Gold" of centuries past. Special children's tours!
Also visit the Celtic Museum and the longest alpine slide in Salzburg, the "Keltenblitz".

 

Hohenwerfen Castle

At imposing Hohenwerfen castle, you will discover:
- daily castle tours and falconry demonstrations 
- stylish castle tavern and medieval gift shop 
- panoramic lift taking you to the upper castle keep 
- first Austrian museum of falconry and Bird of Prey Theme Path 

 

 

World of Ice Giants

The world's biggest ice cave awaits you in Werfen.  Visitors to this ice cave set out on a path which is about 1 km in length, climbing numerous steps along the way.  The ice formations are illuminated by magnesium lights.  Your imagination will know no limits as you gaze upon these astonishing ice sculptures! Warm clothing and sturdy shoes are an absolute necessity!

 

Weisssee Glacier World

Stubachtal scenic road leads you into the very heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, to Weisssee Glacier World. From the Enzingerboden, you will enjoy a pleasant gondola ride to the lift mountain terminal at the Rudolfshütte, standing on the shore of the Weisssee. Once in Weisssee Glacier World, glorious panoramic views reveal themselves before everyone's eyes, including 12 alpine peaks that are above the 3,000m mark.

 

Park of the Senses in Leogang

Explore more than 30 interactive stations and pieces of equipment in the Park of the Senses located next to the mid station of the Asitz Lifts in Leogang.
Tree of Fragrances, Listening Island and a barefoot path are just a few of the highlights along the way. Fun, fascinating insights and refreshments await you at Leo´s Wasserwelt, including a waterfall you can walk through, water play areas and more.

Salzburg Open-Air Museum in Grossgmain

Explore old farmhouses, be astonished by the simple, yet rich life that was led in bygone days, and enjoy great hospitality at the museum's own country inn. 70 original buildings from six centuries await you alongside the nicely maintained footpaths or during a ride on the museum train.
