Viehhofen Activity Tips

Many attractions in the village

Although Viehhofen is a relatively small resort, you will have no problem in finding a programme to fill a whole week for the whole family. There is so much to discover and experience in the village.

Stop for a break at the Hecherhütte

Whether by foot, bike or car, or in winter with the skis - a stop at the Hecherhütte is always a treat. Sit on the sun terrace and enjoy the magnificent mountain views. Treat yourself to something tasty to eat and don’t forget to take a look in the hut itself – where you will find many requisite from days gone by.

Summer tip: Restaurant guests are able to use the swimming pool in summer. Bath high above the rooftops of Viehhofen, surrounded by blooming Alpine pastures - this is a truly unique experience.

Learn about local culture

In the region of Pinzgau, in even the smallest of villages, you will find a church. Visit the village church of Viehhofen. Perhaps you would like to attend a church service with the locals which takes place at 9.00 am on Sundays.

Hike to the Niederbrand chapel

Not to be missed, a stunning circular hike to the historic Niederbrand chapel. From the tennis courts, continue a few metres along the Glemmerstraße (in the direction of Maishofen), then turn left onto a small forest path in the direction of the Niederbrand chapel. Continue along the path through the shady forest, where the well-maintained route winds up towards a clearing, where the small Niederbrand chapel stands. Take in the views and enjoy a few peaceful moments. Continue on the hiking trail, pass the old farm and continue across the mountains pastures to the Alpengasthof Stiegernigg. Take the same route back to the village.

Glemmy Offroad Park

Guests come from far and wide to enjoy a few rounds on the Glemmy Offroad Park. No wonder, because this park offers adventure for the whole family, both in summer and in winter.

Adventure for the whole family

In the centre of Viehhofen you will find a large adventure playground, which will put a smile on every child’s face. A perfect opportunity for kids to let off steam in the village centre.

Easy-going walks

For those who prefer walking at a more leisurely pace, but would still like to experience the countryside, there are walks along the promenade, or forest hiking trails or the well-built cycle path along the Saalach river.

Archery Course Glemmerhof

The archery course is a highlight of the region. Here it is possible to spend half a day, if not a whole day. Hours full of fun and action out in the fresh air. An ideal excursion for the whole family.

Note: Equipment for hire.
