Unlimited winter fun in and around Viehhofen

The first snow falls in Viehhofen are normally towards the end of November, early December, a time when skiers start to anticipate making their first turns and the ski season officially opens. Until the beginning / middle of April, the Pinzgauer grass mountains belong to winter sport enthusiasts.

Thanks to state-of-the-art snowmaking technology, more than 90% of the slopes in the ski areas surrounding Viehhofen snow covered and in pristine condition from Christmas until spring. In addition, skiing is possible at the glacier of the Kitzsteinhorn which stands at an altitude of over 3,000 metres, where great conditions are guaranteed regardless of snowfall.

In Viehhofen itself you will find a small beginner's lift, which is ideal for those practicing their first turns in the snow. There are also many cross-country trails in the nearby villages of Maishofen and Saalbach Hinterglemm. We recommend that newcomers to cross-country skiing learn from a professional instructor. There are cross-country ski school courses on offer in Zell am See, Kaprun and Saalfelden.
