Archery Course Glemmerhof

On the „hunt” in winter!

Just on the outskirts of Viehhofen, at the Gasthof Glemmerhof, you will find one of the most attractive archery courses in Salzburger Land. This lovely circular course has been constructed in a shady forest, where life-like animals are your targets. Great fun and adventure for the whole family.

Why archery?

Archery is a fascinating sport which balances both body and spirit. Once out in the fresh air and the woodlands, the stresses of everyday life are soon forgotten. The tranquillity and natural surroundings enable you to focus on the targets and experience inner peace.

equipment & timing

As the archery course is in the forest and there are numerous narrow hiking trails, sturdy footwear such as hiking boots are recommended. Good footwear also ensures a safe stand. The path is well signposted and easy to find, but please allow plenty of time! For all 28 stations, a group of four would need approx. 3-4 hours.

A pleasant surprise: At the halfway station, you will find an area with cool drinks and snacks.

The course, which is situated mostly in the forest, can be used in almost any weather conditions and is open all year round.

The small, idyllic holiday resort of Viehhofen is nestled in an ideal location between some of the largest and most famous ski resorts in Austria. This location allows you to enjoy unlimited skiing in a different ski area every day if you want, while at the same time returning to the peaceful location of Viehhofen to unwind after a long day of skiing.

Ski touring in the Glemm valley

The true charm of winter

Although Viehhofen is surrounded by first-class ski resorts, more and more winter enthusiasts are being enticed by the sport of ski touring. The tranquillity of the ascent, the feeling of satisfaction having reached an Alpine summit, as well as amazing views of the surrounding mountain world and then the descent in powder snow…ski touring is a charming sport.

The mountains surrounding Viehhofen offer perfect opportunities for ski touring. The wide slopes of the Kitzbüheler Alps and Glemm valley offer a ski tour to suit every ability.

An adventure in a winter paradise

On cross-country skis, you will see the area around Viehhofen in a totally different light. Enjoy nature whilst gliding through a winter paradise, while at the same time burning calories!

In principle, there are two different styles of cross-country skiing: the classical technique and skating style. Both techniques have their own appeal and contribute to the sport being one that is appealing to both the young as well as the young at heart.

In the neighbouring villages around Viehhofen, you will find countless cross-country ski trails to suit every ability. The regions of Zell am See-Kaprun as well as Saalfelden Leogang have built-up an impressive cross-country network with circular trails, for the most avid cross-country enthusiasts, some trails are even illuminated at night. A special recommendation for children is the Fun & Snowpark at the ‘Langlaufzentrum Ritzensee’ in Saalfelden: Here children can learn the technique of cross-country skiing thorough the art of play, by overcoming various obstacles while at the same time having lots of fun.

There are also many cross-country trails in the nearby villages of Maishofen and Saalbach Hinterglemm. We recommend that newcomers to cross-country skiing learn from a professional instructor. There are cross-country ski school courses on offer in Zell am See, Kaprun and Saalfelden.
