zellamseexpress from Viehhofen to the Schmittenhöhe

The Schmittenhöhe is a fantastic ski area in the heart of the Salzburger Land and offers something for every winterholic. Whether you are travelling with family, friends or alone, you are guaranteed to find the right slope for your ability and preferences. The Schmittenhöhe is not only the sun child of the Alps, but also the panoramic mountain par excellence. From here you have a breathtaking view of over 30 three-thousanders, including the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria.

The Schmittenhöhe has 77 kilometres of pistes, which are divided into 30 blue, 28 red and 19 black kilometres of pistes. No matter whether you are a beginner or a professional, you will get your money's worth here. The slopes are well-prepared and offer variety and challenge. Highlights include the steepest slope "the Trass", which has a gradient of 70%, and the Audi Ski Run, a racetrack with timekeeping. For the little ones and the big ones who like to let off steam, Schmidolin's Drachenpark & ​​Kinderland, the XXL Funslope and the Kidsslope, are the right place to be,  where fun and action are guaranteed.

The Schmittenhöhe is not just a ski area, but also an adventure mountain. Here you can not only go skiing. It's also the place for winter hikes and much more. For example, you can also discover modern art on the Schmitten, which blends harmoniously into the landscape. Or you can simply enjoy the culinary diversity in the numerous huts and restaurants, which range from traditional home cooking to international cuisine.

Slope from the Schmittenhöhe to Viehhofen

If you have had an unforgettable day of skiing on the Schmittenhöhe, you can also make the return trip to Viehhofen a special experience. You will get to the middle station of the zellamseeXpress via slope No. 21 "Tannwaldabfahrt". Piste No. 21 is a red piste and is particularly suitable for experienced skiers. It takes you through a beautiful landscape with a view of the Glemmtal and the surrounding mountains. The ski slope is 4.5 km long and has an altitude difference of 1,000 m. Afterwards, there is a leisurely ski route X4 down to the valley and the centre of Viehhofen.

The variant run X4 ends in "Kreuzerlehengraben", from where you can easily take the ski bus back to your accommodation in Viehhofen. Both the ski slope and route to Viehhofen are located on the northern mountainside and are a real insider tip for everyone who loves skiing and wants to discover even more of the Schmittenhöhe.
