Your ski holiday in Viehhofen amid 2 big ski resorts

Viehhofen is known as a small village in the Glemmtal, which is just before Saalbach. But did you already know that Viehhofen is located between two ski areas and that both are really big?

These are not just any ski areas! They belong to the largest in Austria and receive regularly awards on skiresort.de. We are talking about the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn and the family ski area Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See.

Here ambitious skier can draw on unlimited resources

Due to the ticket alliance of Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn und Zell am See - Kaprun, it is no longer necessary to decide a ski area. The Ski Alpin Card includes everything your skier's heart desires and much more. It's really a challenge to ski down the numerous kilometres of slopes, in fact we talk about impressive 408 km. This impressive total number of kilometers is due to the fact that the Kitzsteinhorn ski area with the glacier area in Kaprun and the Maiskogel are also part of the Alpin Card.

As a Viehhofen vacationist, you particularly benefit from this alliance because you are right in the middle of it all. Theoretical, you can ski from Viehhofen to the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun, most of it on skis. Only from Schüttdorf to the Maiskogel in Kaprun you have to take the ski bus for a few kilometers. With such big goals you should definitely appreciate your condition and pay attention to the operating times of the cable cars, so that you are back in Viehhofen in time for dinner. Because there is no better way to end the day than with Viehhofen hospitality and local delicacies in one of our restaurants.

But now we're a little straggled. It is time to take a closer look at the ski areas that surround Viehhofen.

With the zellamseeXpress up to the Schmittenhöhe

The zellamseeXpress takes you from Viehhofen to the Schmittenhöhe and is your convenient entry into skiing fun. 77 kilometers of slopes are waiting for you to be explored on the Schmittenhöhe. About 40% of the ski area are blue slopes and are ideal for a skiing holiday with children.

However, there is a lot to discover on the Schmitten, both for the youngest and for experienced skiers. While children enjoy themselves on the Kidsslope at the Glocknerbahn or have fun in Schmidolin's Dragon Park, the hobby racers can prove their skills on the Trass. With a gradient of up to 70% and a difference in altitude of 1,000 m, this descent is not for the faint-hearted. However, if you want to take a proof of your excellent skiing skills with you back home, you should let out your inner "Marcel Hirscher" and throw yourself down the slopes at the Audi Ski Run. An original Audi start house and 16 gates ensure the right feeling. At the edge of the track, there is also a fully automatic camera that records your rapid turns and your highly tense muscles.

There are alternative routes off the piste where you can "wedel" (style of skiing) to your heart's content. One of them takes you over a forest path back to the valley of Viehhofen, in the Kreuzerlehengraben with a direct bus connection to Viehhofen or Saalbach.

The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn

The plans are in progress, but there is not yet a lift connection from Viehhofen to the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.

But the interval of our ski bus is perfectly organized, which can be used free of charge with a valid ski pass. The ski bus between Viehhofen and the Schönleitenbahn, your entry to the ski area, runs every 10 minutes and the journey itself only takes about 5 minutes. You can reach the entire ski area quickly and easily from the Schönleitenbahn. It doesn't matter whether you want to go to Leogang, the center of Saalbach, Hinterglemm or even Fieberbrunn.

270 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes await you in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Here, too, both beginners and experts get their money's worth. With over 50 % blue slopes, it is ideal for a family skiing holiday. The Skicircus also has a lot to offer for fun slopes connoisseurs. There are the fun slopes on the 12er and at the U-Bahn with steep curves, waves and snow-snails or the snow trail on the Bernkogel. If you don't know what a snow-snail is, a selftest can help. Just line up, close your eyes and go! Great fun for children and for young at heart. There are no age restrictions!

Speed junkies belong on the speed track or the Skimovie slope at the A9 U-bahn. Turn your skiing holiday into your own Ski World Cup and make another video of your skiing skills. The videos are available on skiline.cc and are unique holiday memories.

Last but not least the slope down to Viehhofen

With 7.5 kilometres, it is the longest in the entire ski area and a special treat for pleasure skiers. The blue slope can be reached via the I4 Polten lift and, due to its gradient it, is suitable for the whole family. The always perfectly groomed slope is still dependent on natural snow and therefore offers a special skiing experience. Don't forget to make a stop at the Hecherhütte, right next to the piste. The terrace there invites enjoying the last rays of sunshine, and the hut itself with its rustic charm and the cosy crackling open fire is worth a visit.

Passing on the joys of skiing to younger generations is important to us, which is why in the entire ski area, Saturdays belong entirely to the children. They only pay €15.00 for a day ski pass with the Junior Xplore Ticket. (Attention: This ticket is only available directly at the lift stations. Proof of age is required.)

All in all, in Viehhofen there is more in your ski holiday! Thanks to our location, you benefit from the Ski Alpin Card and can use it to your (ski) heart's content. You could even say, there are no limits for you.

Do you already get a feeling of freedom? On the mountain station of the zellamseeXpress, next to the Salersbachköpfl, don't forget to let your gaze wander over the Zeller Lake to the reservoirs in Kaprun and into the Glemm Valley to Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Under your skis the white, freshly groomed slope and above the deep blue sky. The sun may be a bit dazzling, but you just have to put up with some things ;)

Warm greetings
