Fancy a Puzzle?
Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson
Puzzle:
TURN right, TURN left, in this quest,
None of it seems to be the best.
Study the DIRECTIONS with a look,
Or the first book will remain a rook.
CLUE 1:
Have a close look at the cardinal points.
CLUE 2:
Doesn‘t the writing of the cardinal points remind you of a pocket calculator?
CLUE 3:
The cardinal points can be rotated.

The cardinal points West, South, and East show the letters W-S-O. If you turn the W 90 degrees anticlockwise, the letters look like numbers.
W - 3
S - 5
O - 0
Solution: 350

Riddle:
Smiling will be here, who knows,
that the hand backwards goes.
CLUE 1:
The animals are always in a very specific place.
CLUE 2:
Are those grimaces that the animals are pulling?
CLUE 3:
The clock hands indicate the direction (backwards), the smiling animals, the number on a clock.
Solution:
As the hands move backwards, you should line up the numbers in reverse order. Each animal represents a number on the clock. All the animals are grimacing, but only 3 are smiling.
Hamster - 9
Deer - 6
Rabbit - 2

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland Lewis Carroll
Riddle:
Everyone enjoys a little riddle,
Smoothly rolling, no need to fiddle.
If the three browns, you haven’t guessed,
The fourth arrives, an uninvited guest.
Cut, tear, fold, and snap,
No need to hesitate, just unwrap.
The booklet’s not just for reading, see,
or else clarity won’t come to thee.
Divide the browns by four,
Follow the guide, there’s more:
1.)
Halve the card as I do,
Be bold, not timid, it’s true,
Triangles at 90 degrees raised,
The number is quickly appraised.
2.)
Fold the flower triangle inside, edge to edge,
So a new line is pledged,
Together fold back, away it hides,
The number on the other side.
3.)
The tiny triangle, oh so slight,
Hides behind a stone, out of sight,
Stones piled from small to tall,
What number does this befall?
CLUE 1:
I dare you. Tear up the notebook.
CLUE 2:
You should act according to instructions.
CLUE 3:
After folding, the wide lines per card result in a number.
Solution:
The first 3 puzzles are on brown cards. You have to divide them into 4 cards. Fold the cards according to the instructions, the lines on the edge makeup a number.
Emil and the detectives Erich Kästner
Riddle:
Look closely, you will see,
It’s right there for you and me.
But if you miss, don’t dismay,
You’ll need me to show the way.
CLUE 1:
You urgently require a tool here.
CLUE 2:
Now just the right order.
CLUE 3:
If you place the magnifying glass in the right place, you will recognize a number through the QR code.
Solution:
Use the lines on the QR code as a guide for the magnifying glass when looking at the numbers through the magnifying glass.
Solution: 432
Heidi Johanna SpyriIn
Riddle:
You can fold the mountains steep,
Stand them up, make sure they keep.
Just as lightning demands to be,
Like the emblem upon the book, you see.
CLUE 1:
After a mountain, there is always a valley. It folds better this way.
CLUE 2:
After folding, only the flash is missing.
CLUE 3:
Fold the sheet as indicated and place it in the flash of the book.
Solution:
Fold the sheet in a zigzag along the guidelines and place it in the flash in the book. If you look at it from the right angle, you will see the numbers 924.
Solution:924
Around the world in 80 days Jules Verne
Riddle:
Finger food’s worth the trip, no doubt,
Even if the map’s turned about.
Visit all our restaurants with ease,
With fingers, it’s a breeze.
Back and forth, forth and back,
Together, it all makes sense in the pack.
You’re not lost, don’t you fear,
Start at the Oberwirt, you’re near.
CLUE 1:
Finger & Food = Finger food
CLUE 2:
Place your finger on the restaurant you are looking for and turn the map to move on.
CLUE 3:
It goes from one restaurant to the next. Put the letters together.
Solution:
Start at the Oberwirt and place your finger on the map to cover the Oberwirt. Pinch the map with your second finger and look on the back to see which pub you need to go to next. Repeat this until you have been to all of them. When you line up the scraps of letters, you have the whole word and the solution number.

In crease and play, it plays its part.
CLUE 1:
And whether we can bend that.
CLUE 2:
But which line is the right one?
CLUE 3:
Fold on the red line, the arrow shows you which row you have to take.
Solution:
If you bend the sheet at the red line, the numbers 2 and 3 will disappear and the new numbers 159 will appear in the direction the arrow is pointing.

Believe me not,
Not a word or hue,
Trust in naught,

CLUE 3:
Which colour will remain?

Moby Dick Herman Melville

The path was long, barely in sight,
A telescope now would be just right.

To discern the numbers, oh so brightly.

How do we get a telescope?
CLUE 2:
The lines certainly also have a meaning.
CLUE 3:
Roll the sheet up to the lines and look inside. You can recognize words by the overlap.
