FIS Alpine Ski World Championships

With the final of the World Ski Championships in Courchevel Méribel, France, the countdown for the 48th FIS Alpine Ski World Championships Saalbach 2025 begins.

34 years after the legendary Sun World Cup in 1991, the well-known Salzburg ski resort wants to host an unforgettable winter festival again from February 4th to 16th, 2025. The ceremonial handover of the FIS flag for the 2025 World Cup was the highlight of the international competitions in Courchevel Méribel for the Saalbach delegation.

“We have seen fantastic sport in ideal conditions here in France in the last few days and seven medals for Austria. The enthusiasm is great and the anticipation of enjoying the next World Ski Championships in Saalbach is enormous. We will do everything we can to make these World Championships a real highlight for alpine skiing, which should also attract young people to this beautiful sport in the long term,” said ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober, who together with Mayor Alois Hasenauer, Peter Mitterer (BB Hinterglemm) and Bartl Gensbichler (ski club) accepted the FIS flag in France.

In order to prove yourself as the perfect host in two years, preparations are already in full swing in one of the largest and most modern tourist destinations in the Alps. The focus remains on the concept “One mountain - all competitions”. All races take place on the Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm, which offers all World Cup slopes with just one finish area for all disciplines. The FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2025 should not only be a World Cup with short distances for ski stars and fans from all over the world, but also set new standards in the organization of a major sporting event in terms of future-oriented infrastructure and sustainability with the home World Cup in Saalbach .
