Arrival to Viehhofen

As well as by car, you can also reach Viehhofen by bus and train. For the planning of your arrival we recommend the use of a route planner - you can use the map below.

By car:

From the east (East Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary):

Westautobahn Wien - Salzburg (A1), exit Wals-Lofer, cross border to Germany, continue to Bad Reichenhall and Austria border at the Steinpass, Lofer, direction Zell am See, Maishofen, Viehhofen.

or

Westautobahn Wien - Salzburg (A1) to junction Salzburg, onto the Tauernautobahn (A10) direction Villach, junction Bischofshofen, onto the Pinzgauer Bundesstraße B 311 direction Zell am See, Maishofen, Viehhofen.

From the north (Germany):

Autobahn München - Salzburg (A8) to exit Siegsdorf. Continue to Inzell until turnoff to Lofer. Cross the border to Austria at the Steinpass. From Lofer continue to Saalfelden in the direction of Zell am See. In Maishofen take the turnoff to the Glemmtal. From here it is only 5 km to Viehhofen. (toll free!)

From the south via Villach (from Italy, Slovenia, Croatia)

Tauernautobahn Villach - Salzburg (A10), junction Bischofshofen, onto the Pinzgauer Bundesstraße B311 direction Zell am See, Maishofen, Viehhofen.

or

Tauernautobahn Villach - Salzburg (A10), to Spittal. Take the next exit to the train in Mallnitz – Böckstein, continue onto the Pinzgauer Bundesstraße B311 direction Zell am See, Maishofen, Viehhofen.

From the south via the Brenner (Italy)

Brennerautobahn (A13) direction Innsbruck, exit Innsbruck Ost, continue onto the Inntalautobahn (A12) direction Wörgl, exit Wörgl West, continue on the Bundesstraße 178 or the B164 and B311 to Saalfelden, Maishofen, Viehhofen.

Advice for those arriving by car:

On the Austrian motorways and expressways, there is a compulsory vignette. Vignettes are available for either 10 days, 2 months or 1 year and can be purchased from the ÖAMTC and ARBÖ, petrol stations and kiosks (also in foreign countries).

As well as the vignette, there are also toll roads such as the Tauern- and Katschbergtunnel (Tauernautobahn) or Felbertauernstraße.

Arrival by train

From the train station in Zell am See, you can either take the post bus or taxi to Viehhofen:

The post bus from Zell am See to Viehhofen runs every hour. Further information about the post bus timetable can be found under www.postbus.at or www.fahrplan.oebb.at.

A taxi rank is located directly in front of the train station in Zell am See.

By air:

The nearest international airport is in the city of Salzburg (Salzburg Airport W.A. Mozart). All major airlines have Salzburg as an arrival and departure destination on a flight schedule.

 From Salzburg, there are also shuttle buses (www.holiday-shuttle.at) as well as a post bus travelling to our region. Another possibility is renting a car. We recommend www.sixt.at.
